Updates on Pricing and Taxes for Apps, In-App Purchases, and Subscriptions

The App Store facilitates global sales of digital products and services, supporting 44 currencies across 175 regions. Occasionally, price adjustments may be necessary due to changes in tax laws or exchange rates. These adjustments are based on exchange rate data from financial sources to ensure consistent pricing across different regions.

Price Changes Effective September 16:

  • Pricing for apps and In-App Purchases will be revised for the Chile, Laos, and Senegal regions if these are not set as your app or In-App Purchase’s base region. These changes also account for new VAT rates listed in the “Tax updates” section below.
  • If Chile, Laos, or Senegal is your base region, prices will remain unchanged. In other regions, prices will be adjusted to align with your chosen base price.
  • Auto-renewable subscriptions will not see price changes, nor will regions where you manage pricing manually instead of using automated updates.

The Pricing and Availability section in App Store Connect has been updated to reflect these price changes. You can modify your app, In-App Purchase, and auto-renewable subscription prices anytime.

Tax Changes As of August 29:

  • Proceeds from eligible apps and In-App Purchases have been updated for:
    • Laos: VAT now at 10%
    • Senegal: VAT now at 18%
    • India: 2% equalization levy no longer applies
    • Exhibit B of the Paid Applications Agreement now shows Apple as responsible for tax collection in Laos and Senegal.

Starting in September:

  • Proceeds from eligible apps and In-App Purchases will be adjusted for:
    • Canada: 3% digital services tax introduction
    • Finland: VAT increase from 24% to 25.5%
